The laws governing social media crime in Nepal are regulated by a number of different statutes. However, The Electronic Transaction Act, 2063 is the only IT law in Nepal.

1.The Electronic Transactions Act, 2063 ( 2006)
The Electronic Transactions Act, 2063 (2006) provides a legislative framework to control electronic transactions and combat cybercrime. The act contains provisions for prosecuting cybercriminals and defending victims’ rights.

Section 298 : Prohibition of breaching privacy through electronic means
Section 295 : Prohibition of disfiguring photographs of any person without their consent
